Skylarking: the album's story, truth or myth, is worthy of the music's classic status. If the music wasn't so good, the story could have eclipsed the musicBy the time the album was finished, Partridge and Rundgren were actually at odds over every aspect. One song (Dear God) had to give way in favour of a vinyl-friendly length, which went on to become a hit. It was later discovered that the album sounded thin because the phases of the original master had been reversed during the transfer. With a simple correction, not only did the vinyl suddenly sound fabulous, but this CD (Corrected Polarity), released shortly after, sounded fresh and warm again.
