  • One can best imagine the essence of Florence as a great pile of contradictions: She is hard-core and fearful at the same time, a bundle of nerves in which passion, dark sides and absolute joy are tied together. "I already feel things very intensively; that's why music must also be such an intense experience for me. Either I'm really devastated or overjoyed; tired or completely feverish about it. In the latter state I can definitely find the best new ideas, but it is also the most dangerous emotional state. Either some good songs come out, or maybe some broken hearts. Or broken tables. Or glasses."

As far as their debut album "Lungs" is concerned, the first definitely came out - namely good songs. The ingredients? A powerful voice paired with quirky melodies and self-contained sound worlds. There are people who compare her to Kate Bush. But at the same time her music also contains dark elements à la Tom Waits and Nick Cave, and if someone hears a whiff of Björk, she also likes to take it as a compliment.

    Reviews

    M. Different in stereoplay 8 / 09: "The debut of the British woman offers twelve tracks, which are between wild Sarah-McLachlan -Romanticism, Siouxsie-Sioux-Power and Kate-Bush-Mysticism commute. Unusual and good!"
