DIIV - formerly known as Dive - is synonymous with Z. Cole Smith, musical provocateur and frontman of the atmospheric and melancholic Brooklyn four-piece. Recently signed to Captured Tracks, DIIV made some waves in the blogging world with their impressionistic debut "Sometime", earning spots on Pitchfork and Altered Zones just weeks after forming

With a little help from New York indie hero Devin Ruben Perez, ex-Smith Westerns drummer Colby Hewitt, and childhood friend Andrew Bailey, DIIV create a sound that is both familiar and chilling. They take their cues from classic kraut, dreamy psychedelia from the likes of Creation Records, and the primitive crunch of late eighties Seattle to ride a two-pronged line that homogenizes the influences of the classic underground in the end.
